Service Controller - LHR

We have an exciting opportunity in TCR UK Limited at our prestigious site at London Heathrow, one of the busiest airports in the world. We are looking for a Service Controller. The role is to establish and maintain control of all items of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) deployed on site. 

Working Hours

The working hours for this position is from 6am - 6pm on a rolling 4 on 4 off shift pattern basis This constitutes a basic average working week of 40 hours.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To liaise with customers regarding the status of all vehicles, routine maintenance, and damage repair 

  • Liaise with Workshop Supervisor and Operations Manager for an overview of the status of equipment 

  • Liaise with the Workshop Supervisor to ensure returned equipment is processed in terms of identifying liability and ensuring sufficient capacity

  • Check to ensure all collections and deliveries of GSE has been carried out as agreed 

  • Create services/jobs in ELC and raise purchase orders as required 

  • Update service schedules as required 

  • Collate all hour meter readings and refueling data for input into ELC 

  • Book subcontractors for work 

  • Dealing directly with manufacture and UK Fleet Manager with regards to warranty claims 

  • Allocate jobs to ramp technicians 

  • Provide initial quotes to customers for approval 

  • Record P1 jobs and also record on log with times 

  • Ensure customer dials are managed and updated daily 

  • Dealing with all audits – customer and airlines 

  • Assist in the creation of status reports 

  • Liaise with the customer to alert them to the forecast return due date for out of service GSE 

  • Maintain records of work done including cost, date in/out and any other relevant information 

  • Report on a routine basis to the Workshop Supervisor  


Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Understanding of motor mechanics (desirable) 

  • Understanding of workshop procedures and systems 

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail 

  • Customer oriented/service delivery focused

  • Literate, numerate and analytical 

  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations 

  • Good knowledge of excel, word, outlook, etc.

  • Supervisory experience (desirable) 

  • Experience of working in a customer focused pressurised environment 

  • Experience in the vehicle maintenance sector 



  • Good level of general education 

  • Drivers Licence  (desirable)

  • Motor mechanics – PLG (desirable) 

  • Motor mechanics – LGV & heavy vehicles (desirable) 

  • LGV 2 (desirable)
